MORE THAN A TRAIL, A NOMADIC ADVENTURE

The Nomad Trail Kyrgyzstan is a multi-stage trail-running and hiking adventure through the wild landscapes of Central Asia, from spectacular canyons and endless steppes to the mountains of the Tian Shan. A sporting challenge combined with a true immersion in nomadic culture, offering a unique way to discover Kyrgyzstan.

WHY KYRGYZSTAN?

A vast natural playground in the heart of Central Asia

Still largely untouched by mass tourism, Kyrgyzstan is a true land of adventure. From the ochre canyons of Konorchek to vast green valleys, from the Tian Shan mountains to high-altitude lakes, every day reveals a completely new landscape.

But discovering Kyrgyzstan also means experiencing a nomadic culture that is still very much alive: sleeping in traditional yurts, sharing moments with local people and discovering the traditions of a nation deeply connected to its mountains.

Wild, welcoming and wonderfully different, Kyrgyzstan feels like a country made to be explored on foot, whether running or hiking.

🏃 THE SPIRIT OF THE RACE

The Nomad Trail is first and foremost a running and cultural adventure, while remaining a friendly, recreational competition.

Stages mainly take place in the morning, with results for each individual stage as well as an overall cumulative ranking at the end of the trip.

🔄 CHOOSING YOUR DISTANCE

When registering, you choose your preferred format: short or long distance.

🔁 You can change your choice at any time before the start of the trip by informing the Race Director.

During the adventure, you can also switch from one distance to the other depending on how you feel. However, if you do so, you will no longer be eligible for the final overall ranking in your chosen event.

⛰️ DIFFICULTY & ALTITUDE

The Nomad Trail is a mountain trail designed to remain accessible to as many people as possible. A minimum level of regular fitness walking or mountain hiking experience is required.

The routes mainly follow non-technical trails, although some sections may be more demanding, with rocks, stones and uneven terrain.

🏔️ The main challenge of the Nomad Trail is the altitude, with several sections between 3,000 and 3,500 metres above sea level.

The program has been designed to allow for progressive acclimatisation, but it is essential to adapt your pace and avoid pushing yourself too hard at altitude.

✔️ Technical difficulty: Moderate
🔥 Physical difficulty: Challenging, mainly due to altitude

🚩 COURSE MARKING & GPX TRACKS

The routes are marked by our team using flags, course-marking tape and/or ground markings where necessary.

📲 GPX tracks are also provided to participants.

The organisers reserve the right to modify the routes depending on trail conditions or weather conditions.

🧭 NAVIGATION – MANDATORY

Every participant must carry a navigation device (GPS watch or smartphone), even on marked courses.

As a backup navigation solution, we recommend the free Outdooractive app, which can be used offline.

📲 GPX tracks are sent each evening via the participants’ WhatsApp group.

🍌 AID STATIONS

Water, fresh fruit and dried fruit will be provided:

  • at the finish of each stage
  • and, depending on the route, at a mid-stage aid station

💧 Participants will be able to refill their hydration packs or bottles before each start.

🛡️ SAFETY

Several members of the organisation team will be present along the course, including at the front and back of the race.

🚑 A dedicated medical professional will be stationed at the finish area.

In the event of a more serious problem, the organisation will arrange transport to the nearest hospital, in coordination with the participant’s insurance provider.

⏱️ TIMING & RANKINGS

Times are recorded in hours, minutes and seconds.

Each stage has its own ranking, while the overall ranking is calculated by adding together the times recorded across all stages.

🎒 MANDATORY EQUIPMENT

Every participant must carry the following equipment:

  • 💧 Minimum 1 litre of water (hydration pack or bottles)
  • 🍫 Energy food (bars, gels, etc.)
  • 👟 Suitable trail-running shoes
  • 🆘 Emergency blanket
  • 🔔 Whistle

✔️ An equipment check will be carried out at the beginning of the trip.

🏔️ Due to the altitude and potentially changing weather conditions, we also strongly recommend bringing suitable clothing for cold and wet conditions: long trousers, a long-sleeved top and a waterproof jacket.

🌞 A cap, sunscreen and lip balm are also recommended.

🥢 Poles are permitted and strongly recommended, particularly for high-altitude stages and sections with significant elevation gain or loss.

⚡ NUTRITION ADVICE – OUR PARTNER MELTONIC

For your sports nutrition, we recommend products from our partner Meltonic, a French brand offering natural products made with honey and organic royal jelly.

🥇 The Discovery Pack and Trail Pack are particularly well suited to meeting your energy needs throughout the different stages of the adventure.

RACE RULES: Find out more HERE
